How to play Four in a Row
- Red goes first. When you play the computer, you pick your color under New game.
- Tap the column where you want to play. Your disc drops to the lowest open spot.
- Take turns playing one disc at a time.
- Get four of your discs in a row. They can go across, up and down, or diagonally.
- If the board fills up and nobody has four in a row, the game is a draw.
- Use Undo as often as you like, and tap Hint to see where the computer would play in your place.
Tips
- The middle is strong. A disc in the center column can be part of the most lines.
- Watch out for your opponent's three in a row, and block it before it is too late.
- Try to set up two threats at once. Your opponent can only block one of them.
- Be careful about playing right below the spot your opponent needs.

How good is the computer?
On Easy, the computer only looks a little ahead and often makes mistakes, so it is great for kids and beginners. On Medium, it looks further ahead and blocks most threats. On Hard, it calculates many moves ahead and is very tough to beat. You can always tap Hint to see what it would do.
Can I play Four in a Row with a friend?
Yes. Choose 2 players under New game. You take turns tapping the screen, and the game always shows whose turn it is.
Does the player who goes first have an advantage?
The first player has a small advantage, especially with a first disc in the middle. That is why it is a good idea to switch colors so you both get to go first.
Does five in a row count too?
