About Hyggebreak

Hyggebreak is a small collection of cozy classic games with big pieces, plus clear rules for the board games families love. It is free, and there is no login.

Made in Denmark by a dad

Hyggebreak was made in Denmark by a dad who wanted a calm place to play with his family. It started as the Danish site Spillehyggen.dk, and this is the English edition. Hygge is a Danish word for the warm, cozy feeling of a good time together. That is what we hope a break here feels like.

Why Hyggebreak?

Many game sites are full of ads, tiny buttons and stress. Here the pieces are big, the colors are calm and there is no time pressure. The site is made for tablets, but it works on phones and computers too.

No ads yet

There are no ads on Hyggebreak right now. If we ever add ads or affiliate links, they will always be clearly marked, and never in the middle of a game.

The referee

The referee is an AI that answers questions about the rules. It bases its answers on the rule pages on this site and always tells you what the official rule is and what is a house rule.

Fonts

The fonts Lexend and DynaPuff are used under the SIL Open Font License and are hosted on our own server.

Who runs the site

Hyggebreak is run by Summit Invest ApS, a small company in Denmark.
