Yatzy is the Scandinavian version of the classic five dice game. It has 15 boxes instead of 13, including One Pair and Two Pairs, and a 50 point bonus when your upper section adds up to 63 or more.
How to play
- Tap Roll. All five dice are rolled.
- Tap the dice you want to keep. They lift up, get a yellow ring and the label Held. Tap again to release them.
- Roll again with the rest. You get up to three rolls per turn.
- The score sheet always shows how many points you can get in each open box. Tap the box you want to fill in. You may score after your first or second roll too.
- If your dice do not fit anywhere, you can scratch a box and score 0 there.
- The game ends when all 15 boxes are filled in. Most points wins.
Not sure what to do? Tap Hint. The game suggests which dice to keep or which box is best right now. With Undo you can take back your last choice.

- Scratch a low box like Ones rather than waste a valuable one.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good score in Yatzy?
The highest possible score is 374 points. A normal game usually ends between 180 and 250 points. If you get the bonus and a single Yatzy, you are often above 250. Play solo and try to beat your own record, which is saved on your device.
How do I get the bonus?
You need at least 63 points in total for Ones to Sixes. That equals three of each number. So four sixes can make up for a couple of poor ones. The score sheet shows how many points you still need.
How good is the computer?
The computer plays sensibly. It works out which dice give the most points on average, and it likes to go for the bonus. It never cheats, and its dice are just as random as yours.
What is the Daily Game?
If you choose Daily game under New game, everyone gets the same dice that day, as long as they hold the same dice. Then you can compare scores with family and friends. The game changes at midnight.
