Free Sudoku Online with Large Numbers
Play free sudoku online with big, clear numbers and calm colors. There is no login, no ads in the game and no time pressure. The game is made for tablets, but it works on phones and computers too. Every puzzle has exactly one solution, so you can always work out the answer with logic and never have to guess.
How to play
- Tap an empty cell on the board. The cell gets a yellow border, and its row, column and box are lightly shaded.
- Tap a number on the keypad below the board. Each number may appear only once in every row, every column and every box.
- Not sure yet? Turn on Notes and write small pencil marks in the cell. They disappear on their own when that number is used in the same row, column or box.
- Stuck? Tap Hint. The game points to a cell you can solve and explains why.
- When every cell is filled in correctly, the sudoku is solved. Use Undo as often as you like.
The small numbers under each keypad button show how many of that number are still missing. When a number is used up, its button fades. You can also use a physical keyboard: number keys, arrow keys and Backspace.
Sudoku tips
- Start with the rows, columns and boxes that are almost full.
- Pick one number and scan the whole board for the single spot it can go in a box.
- Use notes on harder puzzles. When a cell has only one note left, that is your answer.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the levels?
Beginner is a small 6 by 6 sudoku with the numbers 1 to 6. It is a great place to start. Easy, Medium and Hard are classic 9 by 9 sudokus. Easy has lots of numbers from the start and can be solved by looking for the one place a number can go. Medium has fewer numbers and also asks you to look at which numbers are missing from a cell. Hard has the fewest numbers, and you often need to think one step further, for example that a number in a box can only go in one specific row.
Does every puzzle have only one solution?
Yes. Every time the game makes a new puzzle, a solver checks that there is exactly one solution. On top of that, every puzzle can be solved with logic alone, so you never need to guess.
How do I use notes?
Tap Notes so the button turns dark. Now the numbers you tap are written as small numbers in the cell instead of one big number. Tap the same number again to remove the note. Tap Notes again to go back to regular numbers. When you place a number, the game automatically removes that note from the rest of the row, column and box.
What is the Daily Sudoku?
Under New game you can choose Daily Sudoku. Then everyone gets the same puzzle that day at the level you pick. It is fun to compare with family and friends. Your game and your stats are saved only on this device.
