Rules

White moves first. You take turns moving one piece at a time.
You capture an opponent's piece by moving onto its square.
The king moves one square, the queen straight and diagonally, the rook straight, the bishop diagonally and the knight in an L shape. The pawn moves forward and captures diagonally.
Check means the king is under attack. You must always save your king. If the king cannot be saved, it is checkmate and the game is over.
Castling: the king moves two squares toward a rook, and the rook jumps over to the other side. Neither piece may have moved yet, and the king may not be in check, pass through check or end up in check.
En passant: if a pawn moves two squares forward and lands next to your pawn, you can capture it as if it had moved only one square. You must do it right away.
Draw: stalemate, the same position three times, 50 moves without a capture or pawn move, or too few pieces to checkmate.
